Share of MobilePay users in Denmark 2022, by age groups

Launched by Danske Bank in 2013, MobilePay has grown to become the most common mobile payment app in Denmark. Indeed, MobilePay appeared to be very popular among Danes of all ages. The mobile payment app is so popular that it was used by 99 percent of Danes aged between 20 and 39 in October 2022. In January 2020, MobilePay registered 97 thousand daily active users.

MobilePay in Finland

MobilePay was also launched in Finland a few months after the first introduction in Denmark and has since become the most common payment app in the country. As of September 2019, the app was the most common payment app in the country, used by 20 percent of the Finns. This figure, however, is rather low when compared to that registered in Denmark, where it was used by 85 percent of the population.

Use of mobile payment apps in the Nordic countries

  Which of the Nordic countries use mobile payment apps the most? According to a survey from 2018, Sweden seemed to be the country where money transfer with mobile phone was used most frequently. 35 percent of Swedes transferred money to another individual with their phones at least once a week, while this share was 32 percent in Norway and Denmark, and only 11 percent in Finland.
